Capacity can drop because the device receives and transmits over wireless airtime. The result depends on source signal strength, band, interference and device design.
Some can, but one name does not guarantee smooth movement. A phone may remain attached to the weaker radio until it decides to move.
Mesh uses cooperating nodes with unified management and calculated paths, while an extender usually acts as an independent device repeating an existing network.
Wired access points or Mesh with wired backhaul are usually more stable than several chained extenders, but quantity and placement should be reviewed from the floor plan.
